Mineral Specimens - Hardystonite, Willemite, Franklin, NJ

Massive hardystonite showing typical greasy luster with willemite,

franklinite and brown, platy diopside of the type known in Franklin

as "zinc schefferite", a discredited but useful name. Willemite ex-

solution causes an attractive "outline" effect under short-wave ultra-

violet light. The brightness of the willemite fluorescence results in

some overexposure. Minor clinohedrite can be seen on the piece.

 Specimen size - approx 14.5 cm.  X  8 cm.  X  6 cm.

Mineral Specimens - Bustamite, Hardystonite, Clinohedrite, Franklin, NJ

Massive pink bustamite with hardystonite and clinohedrite. These short

wave ultraviolet pictures are somewhat overexposed. The specimen is not

as vivid in real life. Even so, it is impressive and this material is hard to

find. The hardystonite is unusually bright. On top of that, this bustamite

has a tugtupite look under long-wave ultraviolet.

 Specimen size - approx 15.5 cm. X 8.5 cm. X 7 cm.
