Jersey agates??!! Various forms of chalcedony are found in the Mesozoic basalts of the
New Jersey piedmont. Probably the best known occurrences are the stream deposits
of carnelian from the Watchung and Warren area in Somerset County. While these ain't
Lagunas, the banded agates on these pages represent some of the more unusual and
overlooked mineral specimens from the Garden State.

amethyst, quartz. Collected in 1972.
