APATITE
Sterling Hill, Ogdensburg,
Sussex County, NJ, USA
Large hexagonal, blue-green apatite crystals
in marble with a black mineral that superfi-
cially resembles franklinite but on closer
inspection looks more like 'hornblende'.
Very similar to the material from Hamburg. The apatite fluoresces a pale blue under short-wave UV (fluorapatite?).
