  BARYSILITE on

  MANGANAXINITE

  Franklin, Sussex Co., NJ, USA

Grey-white, micaceous barysilite on a slip

in massive manganaxinite. This is believed

to be an example of the first occurrence

described at Franklin ( so called "original

   find").

  HARDYSTONITE, WILLEMITE

  Franklin, Sussex County, NJ, USA

Nice chunk of glassy green willemite with

  hardystonite in calcite. Hardystonite was

fairly common at Franklin but is unknown

  elsewhere, including Sterling Hill.

Hardystonite crystal sections in orange-red fluorescing

calcite with a nice little willemite vein (not phosphore-

   SOROSILICATES - EPIDOTE GROUP

Mineral Specimens - Hancockite, Willemite, Franklin, NJ

  M0845

  HANCOCKITE, WILLEMITE

  Franklin, Sussex County, NJ, USA,

Vuggy brick-red hancockite with a spot of

gemmy willemite. Hancockite is a lead bearing

member of the epidote group. Although it was

fairly abundant at Franklin, the mineral is almost

  unknown elsewhere.

   Specimen size -  approx. 9 cm   X  8 cm   X  5 cm.

   HANCOCKITE

   Franklin, NJ

Massive brick red hancockite with a crystal filled vug

with datolite. A fine example of hancockite collected

years ago by Franklin miner Mike Massey.

                                                                                                                           (SuperBright 2000SW UV source)

Massive, somewhat vuggy, brick red hancockite with films and veins of clinohedrite (fl orange SW) and xonotlite

(fl pale blue SW). This is some of the unique 'Parker Shaft' assemblage first encountered in 1898 which made

Franklin famous. Hancockite, while fairly abundant at Franklin, is a rare lead and strontium bearing member

of the epidote group virtually unknown outside of Franklin. Clinohedrite is almost unknown outside of Franklin

as well and its bright orange fluorescence makes it very collectible.

 Specimen size -  approx.  11 cm.  X 8 cm.  X  8 cm.
