Huckitta pallasite, Northern Territory, Australia

   MM027

   HUCKITTA PALLASITE

   Northern Territory, Australia

This pallasite has been weathered to the

point where the groundmass has oxidized

to mostly hematite and magnetite. The

rust layer despite an estimated terrestrial age

    of 2000 years.

     Specimen size: approx.  14.8 cm  X  10.5 cm  X  4.6 cm        Weight: 1097 grams

   CHINGA ATAXITE

  Tanna Tuva, Turvinskaya, Russia

A slice of Chinga polished to a mirror finish

characteristic of treatment given Chinga ataxites.

The high nickel content in Chinga ataxites

   suppresses the formation of Widmanstatten

   patterns.

      Specimen size: approx.  6.5 cm  X  4 cm  X  .4 cm        Weight: 75.5 grams
